Here are the general directions for applying DTF (Direct-to-Film) transfers to fabric or other surfaces:
Materials Needed:
-
DTF transfer print (from HSC)
-
Heat press machine (preferred for consistent results)
-
Parchment paper or Teflon sheet (to protect the print and garment)
-
Garment or fabric (pre-washed and wrinkle-free)
-
Scissors (to cut out the transfer if needed)
-
Preheat your press (recommended temperature: 320-330°F or 160-165°C)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
-
Prepare the garment:
-
Make sure the fabric is clean and dry.
-
If the garment is new, wash it without fabric softener and dry it.
-
Pre-press the fabric for 5-10 seconds to remove any moisture and wrinkles.
-
-
Prepare the DTF transfer:
-
Cut out the transfer image if needed (trim around the edges if you don’t want extra film).
-
Ensure that the printed side of the transfer faces down against the garment.
-
-
Heat pressing the transfer onto the garment:
-
Set your heat press to 320-330°F (160-165°C).
-
Preheat the press with a Teflon sheet or parchment paper on the bottom platen.
-
Position the transfer onto the garment (printed side down).
-
Cover the transfer with parchment paper or a Teflon sheet for protection.
-
Press the transfer for 15-20 seconds with medium pressure.
-
-
Peel the transfer:
-
After pressing, allow the transfer to cool slightly for 10-15 seconds.
-
Gently peel off the transfer film. Peel once it’s completely cooled.
-
-
Final press (optional but recommended):
-
To ensure adhesion, give it a final press for 10-15 seconds with parchment or Teflon paper. This will lock the design into the fabric.
-
Additional Tips:
-
Test on a sample first: Always test on a sample fabric to ensure the settings and process work well with your materials.
-
Proper pressure: If the pressure is too high or low, the transfer might not adhere properly, so adjust accordingly.
That’s it! You should now have a vibrant, durable DTF transfer on your fabric.
